Kentucky Is A Great Place To Eat

Travels this week took my client and I back to Bowling Green Kentucky. Of course it’s beautiful and green this time of year, you would know that already. But what do you know about the food? Well my client had meetings with several Dairy’s in the area and they give free samples.

One of our fist stops was at JD Country Milk. They bottle and sell direct to consumers and area stores. They pasteurized their milk but don’t homogenize it. It taste just like milk did when I was young. They gave us a small bottle of chocolate milk to sample. Their chocolate milk is made with all-natural cocoa and real cane sugar. Wow, it was great. I wish we could get it here.

Our next sample came from Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese. They process their milk into cheese. They make kinds of cheese that I have never heard of. We didn’t get to sample all of them but my client purchased some of the Havarti and Barren County Bleu. They were great to eat by themselves or on salads and in soup. The Bleu was great crumbled on top of steak. And I enjoyed the Havarti thinly shredded in a hot bowl of tomato soup. Check out their website, I think they ship cheese anywhere. Click Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese.

My favorite sample came from Chaney’s Dairy Barn. They make ice cream with their milk. It is premium quality homemade ice cream. I had a scoop of Cherry Althea and Cow Tracks. Can’t even begin to describe how good it was. You will have to find out for yourself. Here is the website, be sure and look through their flavors. Click Chaney’s Dairy Barn.

This trip my client based in Bowline Green. While there we enjoyed some of the local dining establishments.

Rafferty’s was very enjoyable. I allways enjoy trying the house salad dressing where ever I go. The person tending my table suggested the honey mustard bacon dressing. I was surprised when it came out in two small bowls but she said it’s so I can mix the honey mustard dressing and the hot bacon dressing to my own liking. Worked for me, it was fantastic. The catfish I had were full fillets, not the catfish nuggets most restaurants usually serve. The breading was just right and they cooked them perfectly. The cocktail sauce they served was made fresh on site. Made by the person who tended my table. It was the perfect complement to the fish. For finishers I asked for a slice of their banana cream pie in a to-go box. I knew I couldn’t finish it there but thought what ever was left would make a great breakfast. It did. Also the young person that tended my table was very nice. I know that she will be very successful in what ever she does. Here is the website for Rafferty’s. I highly recommend this place.

Had lunch one day in downtown Bowling Green at Mariah’s. Had the marmalade marinated boneless pork chops. All I can say is, it was very delicious.

One evening I dined at the Montana Grill. Great steak! Cooked perfectly. What else can I say, steak is my favorite. It’s healthy and nutritious. This would be a great place to take customers to. Click here for Montana Grill.

One evening we enjoyed a home cooked meal at the house of an associate of my client. This was the highlight of the trip. A standing rib roast is not the easiest cut of beef to prepare but this lady prepared it so well. It was the best I ever had. What a spread we had at the table that evening. There was at least two of everything that you wanted. In fact it was so good we had left overs the next night. Hope we were would good guests, I would like to be invited back. What a wonderful family!
